Chosen as one of our February selections over in The Picture-Book Club to which I belong, where our theme was "Fractured Plant nursery Rhymes,"
Humpty Dumpty Climbs Once more is an entertaining examination of what happens after our egg hero takes his famous autumn. I appreciated the style Dave Horowitz worked other nursery rhyme characters into his tale, and thought the drawing-fashion artwork was well suited to the story, accentuating the sense of humour in the text. I'll be curious to run into how this compares to another revisionist take on Humpty'due south story, Jeanie Franz Ransom's What REALLY Happened to Humpty?: From the Files of a Hard-Boiled Detective , which was also chosen every bit a selection for February. ...more
*Horowitz also did a squeamish of job of incorporating tidbits from other rhymes and tales into the plot...I retrieve I'll bump my rating upwards to three stars from ii.

With an inspirational message and cartoonish illustrations (including an egg wearing underpants), this is a adept story for elementary school age students. Our girls giggled at the sight of Humpty in his undies and I liked that he found a style to overcome his fear.I remember that the book volition appeal to older children who have grown out of plant nursery rhymes, merely enjoy the nostalgic nod to a familiar character. Read my total review at wadingthoughbooks.wordpress.com!This is a lovely continuation of the plant nursery rhyme, beginning with someone finally being sensible enough to call a doc to put Humpty Dumpty back together once more–though did not i of the king'south horses or the male monarch'southward men have any first aid training? The Health and Safety commission is falling down on their task too, I'd say. In that location are some nice references to other plant nursery rhymes too, such as including the Dish and the Spoon, the laughing Piddling Dog, and the scary Spider. The illustrations are large, bright, simple, and add some funny, if immature, jokes that volition entertain kids. For example, when Humpty is broken, i of the king'due south men holds upwards a piece of Humpty and asks "What is this?" and the other king'due south human being says "I recall information technology's his butt." The adults reading it will laugh at the king'south men bemoaning "Oh the humanity" when Milt the horse is stuck on the wall, and when Humpty promises never to climb without safety equipment or pants once again. There's also some nice details in Humpty's firm, with photographs on the wall of him climbing lots of different mountains.
This book is probably more than for an adult to read to a child–all of the words are the aforementioned size and set up in brusk paragraphs, and some of the vocabulary might be a chip difficult for a starting time reader. Most kids will recognize the different nursery rhymes referenced, and so the adult reader can use those to describe connections between books, and to demonstrate how stories can continue outside of the unmarried text–what happens side by side later on "they all lived happily always after." It tin likewise be used to point out that just because something bad happens is no reason to quit doing something you beloved–just be more careful in the futurity. And ever clothing pants. Pants are important.

Poor Humpty! We all know he got a bad rap when he fell downward and no one could put him back together again merely in this story we tin thank the Rex's equus caballus. The horse called the doctor and he was able to put Humpty back together. Just, Humpty doesn't want to climb walls any more than and well, Humpty isn't Humpty if he doesn't climb walls then he just sits around watching Television receiver and people brand fun of him (I do believe this is called bullying- which is a lesson in itself). He has visitors from other nursery rhymes but the poor guy just is non himself. Everyone wants the old Humpty Dumpty dorsum only tin anything become him off his chair and away from the Idiot box?

Summary: this story is about humpty dumpty who is humiliated. All the king'southward horses and men make fun of him for falling off the wall. He but sits on his chair in his underwear watching television and is determined to never climb another wall. This is until his friend needs help.Mentor wiring trait: This book writing trait is ideas. The author does a great job about getting his ideas and main message beyond to the readers. With a piddling humor along the mode, I think this is a great story to teach multiple meanings to your children.
Classroom integration: I cannot tell you how many meanings this story has. This would be smashing to introduce to your class and have the children choose a meaning and write almost it or add their own twist to the story. One of the meanings from this story is about how if you fail once you should always get upwardly and endeavour once again. Another meaning is you should NEVER make fun of someone because you lot might not know, or you lot might not realize how valuable they are. It is also virtually bravery. This would also be neat to use in scientific discipline class. At the begging of the story, Humpty Dumpty falls off the wall and breaks – you could introduce this in a scientific discipline class and take kids effigy out a type of protected textile they could put around the egg to keep it from breaking. This would exist a great experiment for trial and fault.

The theme of this book is perseverance and to never requite upwards fifty-fifty if you are discouraged.
I connected to this volume because I recollect enjoying this fairy tale as I grew upwards and liking it'south silly plot line. I liked this book and would read information technology to some other one of my friends.
I recommend this book if the classroom is having a unit on fairy tales and the teacher could bring this book in as an example of a fractured fairy tale. ...more

Humpty Dumpty had a fall, where we was badly hurt. After the autumn, he told to be more careful since he was an egg. Personal Response:
Horseback riding there were many times I roughshod of the equus caballus, but my trainer e'er made me get support. This taught me non exist afraid of falling, and that no affair how bad the fall was, I could always get back upwardly. I think this book teaches a similar lesson in that fear should not terminate you lot from doing what you honey.
Recommend:
I think children can relate to being scared to exercise something because of a bad feel. This book tin can teach children that even though something bad happens, we have to be brave and continue doing what nosotros love.

The but reason information technology got two stars was because of the reference to other nursery rhymes!
Certainly non a story, I volition always remember, or care enough to read again!

Humpty Dumumpty Climbs again is a book that got me laughing. Most people know the real story of Humpty Dumpty, simply i institute this version improve. This book shows children to never requite upwards, only because they made a mistake. Sometimes it takes more than 1 try to get things right. It also teaching the reader to not worry virtually what others retrieve almost them. The only way to bear witness information technology to those people is by getting upward and trying again. That'southward what Humpty Dumpty does in this book, he proves everyone incorrect. The reason I would make this book a whole class read is because children need to see that anything is possible if they become up and try again.
